Ms. Jackman has been in the student housing industry for over fourteen years. She began her commercial real estate career in property management, focusing on consulting student housing owners on marketing, leasing and property renovations. She was recruited by Florida’s largest apartment locator company and became GM for them, based out of the Gainesville, FL office. While in that role, Ms. Jackman spearheaded several performance consulting projects with various student housing owners to assist on their occupancy-challenged properties. One such property realized an increase from 48% to 98% in occupancy under the program in one leasing season. Ms. Jackman was promoted to Director of Affiliate Relations with the company and was responsible for the selection and relationship management of strategic alliances.

Through her prior professional real estate experience, Ms. Jackman has developed a special expertise in the unique niche of student housing: an in-depth understanding of the business of student housing and its management intensive operations. Since joining Marcus & Millichap’s Tampa office, Dorothy has earned several prestigious awards. In 2006, she received two transaction management awards for successfully closing $90,000,000 of student housing in Tallahassee and Gainesville, FL and the National Achievement Award honoring top earners within the firm.

In 2007, Ms. Jackman and her team closed a $193,000,000 national student housing portfolio which included four out of five student housing communities, with the fifth closing in early 2008. Those closings brought her 2007 total production in commercial real estate to nearly $300,000,000. Adding to those accomplishments, Ms. Jackman was awarded the 2007 National Achievement Award, became one of the top 30 brokers for Marcus & Millichap’s National Multi Housing Group, received the 2007 Gold Sales Achievement Award and became the highest earning agent for the Tampa and Jacksonville offices.

In 2008, Dorothy again earned an award of top 30 brokers nationally for Marcus & Millichap as well as #1 agent in the Tampa/Jacksonville offices. Ms. Jackman has been named a “Top Woman in Commercial Real Estate” by the Florida Real Estate Journal and “Broker All Star” by Real Estate Florida.

Currently, Ms. Jackman is an Associate Vice President of Investments for Marcus & Millichap and a Senior Director for Marcus & Millichap’s National Multi Housing Group. Dorothy is a member of the National Multi-Housing Council, and is a licensed real estate agent in both Florida and North Carolina.
